Merry Christmas

wishing everyone a very merry Xmas. I will be catching up with family and eating way to much……as usual. To all those who have added constructive comments to my blog, keep it up next year. I will try and add more informative posts to keep people tuning in. I don’t think you really want to hear about my kids toilet habits!!! If you get bored this christmas give the boys from Epic Video a call, make it a prank call. Don’t worry they are both cops and have a good sense of humor. Just don’t mention bacon, ham or trotters as they love to be called Police officers. Have a good one.

Just one of those days

Have you ever had one of those days when nothing went right. Today has been one of them. After dinner I mentioned to my wife what is happening with this weather, making a comment about how gloomy and overcast it was. I decided to play with some images I had shot on my new Canon G9. Almost falling asleep on the laptop I decided to call it a night. Yes it was only 8.30pm, I told you my day was bad. Anyway I looked out of the camper, yes we are camping at Yallingup and witnessed the most amazing sunset. Of course I didn’t have my camera so I got even more pissed off. I wonder what is next. My daughter has a gastro bug at the moment and had 4 poos in 4 different pair of pants this arvo. I guess I will be up during the night wiping away the stains of a very annoying tiring shity day. I shouldn’t complain though some people would kill for my day. Tomorrow will be better.

Wedding Day

had to shoot a wedding on Saturday. It was at 12 noon but luckily we had some nice cloud and the light was pretty even. I don’t normally do weddings but it was a favor for a friend. I was lucky to meet one of the guests, a guy named Andrew Rowlands who is a Cameraman and Director of Photography working in L.A. His film credits include The 11th Hour, The Departed, Matrix movies, Gangs of New York, Meet the Fockers, Meet the Parents, and the list goes on. A real down to Earth bloke considering the people he works with and the industry he is in. The best thing is he had no formal training and just worked towards his goal and took a few risks along the way. It is possible to achieve anything if you really want to. Also met  another guy Peter Watts who has a business doing 360 QTVR’s of the world. His website Panoramic Earth has 360 panos and maps of the worlds best travel spots, cities, towns, islands and Ski resorts. Have a look.

Photo from Sunday Morning, Cosy Corner

fl968dp.jpg  This is one of the shots I got from Sunday, still haven’t recovered from lack of a sleep in!!!I think it was only 11 images this time. I created the spotlight effect and added a gradient to spunk up the sky. Overall I’m pretty happy with this one.  A bit of a tiddler, this photo, weighing in at only 498mb. Opens in about 10 seconds on the Mac Pro.

Photos Today

My eyes are just narrow slits tonight. Got up at 4.30am for a trip to Augusta and shot most of the morning, from the Cape to Conto’s. It was completely clouded over but that will make for some interesting moody shots I hope. Don’t know if anyone else is watching the Countdown Spectacular, it’s on now and boy it brings back memories. For all you young guys and girls out there, it was the best and only music show on TV going back 20 to 30 years ago. Yes I’m an old fart!!!

The Peter Eastway Effect

Canal RocksTook this pic last night at Canal Rocks. Was almost dark when I left and got home after 9pm. Daylight saving doesn’t help the photographer out much!! This pic has a bit of the Peter Eastway about it, just not as good!! Have a look at his work, the link is on the blog. I’m not sure if I got this one right , I was scratching for ideas to make it look better.

Red Bull Photo

red-bull2.jpgThis pic was taken at the first Red Bull event in Perth. It was done with a HDR program called Photomatix. I think it looks pretty cool. Has a lashing of the TNFP filter to give it some bling. Let me know what you think.

Quad core Mac Pro

The new quad core stitched the images in 30mins. After when opening the file in photoshop I timed it and it opened in under 30 seconds. Not too shabby. The last stitch I did on my old G5 took about 2 hours. That file size was only around 500mb. And of course having 5 gigs of ram and a terrabyte on board helps!!! It’s a beautiful thing. Purchased it from Team digital Go see Trevor and tell him I sent you, he might buy me a beer too.
