A great spot if your there at the right time of day and year for that matter. I have it all worked out after 6 or 7 trips to this spot.

East Coast Workshops

cn793d I will be on the East Coast for 3 months shooting for my new book on Australia. I am thinking about running my night course over there if I can get enough interest. I will be in all states and the NT hopefully so if you could let me know if you would come that would help my decision to do them. It will be the same as what I hold in WA, i.e. cost $250 and includes free wine, Desert and a workbook. Not to mention lots of fun and learning.

This image was from a shoot I had last week with Mark. I worked this image for 1.5 hours then resized it for the web. Then I went and saved it that size and closed it down realizing I didn’t do a SAVE AS. Fudge’n Hell. Always hit save as, always hit save as, always hit save as………….

Also just clicked over 150,000 hits in 15 months. Man have I typed my little hands off!!!

Rio Tinto Is Go

This is a vid Michael put together from our Rio job last week. Mostly shot with the Canon tilt shift lenses kindly donated by Canon and Team Digital. Thanks Ben for getting us a couple to try. If your too young to know about the Thunderbirds (Stakky) then look it up on google. Enjoy.

Due to the sensitive nature of this video we have had to remove it from circulation. We don’t want to be sued by Rio Tinto now do we !!

Karijini Video from Michael

This is the latest video from Michael of our trip to Karijini last week. This is such a great place and watching the video makes me want to go back into the gorges. Mark is the other mug in the shots, a couple of good looking lads, what do you reckon!!! Give that Tom Putt a run for his money!

Karijini Dreaming

karijini-pic Ok it is a bit of a swipe at Flemmings Hawk Dreaming but it just seemed to work so nicely. This is a pic of my mate Mark taking pics at Oxer lookout where all the gorges meet. A great place to wear shoes with grip. Mark had his thongs on so he was safe!!!! I love this place and have to thank Mark for adding scale to my shot. Now if only he was wearing a bikini………………..and yes was a blonde………………….all right, female too!! :-)

Rio Tinto

Sorry can’t show you the pic anymore as we can’t show Rio’s plants and technology off to the masses, that is you guys and girls. This is the first pic from my Rio Tinto job. It was good fun and my first time on a mine site, geez they are pretty strict on the safety stuff!! This was a 6 image stitch taken on the horizontal. It was an amazing plant and looked mint at night. Unfortunately we couldn’t get close to the big machinery but weren’t there to photograph it anyway.

To answer a few questions

Hi all, sorry if I haven’t been getting back to people regarding their questions. I thought I send in one post that will help solve all the riddles of the universe and beyond! OK lets go:-

I no longer use a pano head. The old 360 precision has been sold to a mate who runs a 1Ds Mark III. It didn’t fit the new 5D anyway so I thought I had better just make do with what I had. What I have found is I don’t need the pano head but what I do have kind of works the same. PT GUI is so good anyway it fixes plenty of stitching stuff ups. So I have one of these http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/controller/home?O=cart_accessories&A=details&Q=&sku=113383&is=REG and one of these http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/controller/home?O=cart_accessories&A=details&Q=&sku=554092&is=REG
I put it all together on my old shitty Manfrotto tripod with a three way head, you know the old style ones before all the fancy pistol grip crap came out. And guess what???? it works a treat. So there you are save your money and buy this gear. Speak to Brendan at PRA Imaging in Perth. Tell him I sent ya so he will feel like he owes me!!! hehe

The exhibition ends this weekend and I am having a talk on the images, how I took them etc and a general run down on each one. Everyone is welcome but it is not a workshop hence the cost “zero, zilch, nada, nothing” It is just a get together so I can share my experiences with who ever is interested. Hope to see you guys there. There will obviously be some insight as to how I achieved the pics so it will still be informative. It kicks off at 1pm this Sunday the 8th of March at the Mandurah Performing Arts Centre. If you haven’t seen the exhibition yet Sunday will be your last chance.

Thanks for all the comments on the book, I have gone off all the covers now, I’m sick of them already. Will keep developing new ideas for comment.

The TNFP shirt was officially launched last week at the exhibition. I have orders for 6 so far but expect this number to increase dramatically after this post “hint, hint” I am still averaging about 6 google searches a day for people wanting to find out about the TNFP filter. Don’t get on the bandwagon too late when it is no longer cool to have a TNFP shirt. I have mine on today and feel pretty good when people ask me what it means, except of course when it is a nice little old lady. I will be wearing it to PMA this year and will be on the lookout for others that might turn up in the crowd. $35 is so cheap for a custom Limited Edition shirt anyway.
