I had Guillotines in front of me going nuts and Gallows to my right with guys towing in. It looked like lots of fun. Forget the paddling caper this is the way to go. In my youth , when I used to surf I would look at Gallows and think how cool it would be to paddle out the back and surf some of these waves. Of course I never did. That was back before tow in surfing was around. It almost made me wish I was out there. Then the icy wind blew hard again and I thought, “what are you stupid??”
Enjoying the surf stuff, getting a collection of all the breaks along the coast to sell in the gallery. If you want me to get a pic of you surfing I charge like a wounded bull!! haha

Cool shots mate – I’m enjoying the tour from in front of a roaring fire… You think it’s frikken cold over there today ! sideways hail here… I’m wondering why I haven’t done my nthward migration this year…. Which gear and lense are you shooting these bad boys on?
Good to see your out there braving to cold, and a bit of CF humour coming back into the blog posts! Oh yeah, cool shots too!
Tone all shot on the phase of course with the 150mm lens. I can’t go near a dslr now without getting a feeling of nausea and a funny rash. It is amazing how your body copes with inferior products then it just rejects it totally.
Kym I’m almost in Margaret river with these shots
Ahh cool – I wasn’t sure if you were using the 150 and cropping (all those pixels to play with) or gone back to DSLR and the 400. I know what you are saying… I’d imagine it would be similar to going from 35mm to 6×17.
Yep, apparently DSLRs are just for video ….
DLSR’s aren’t that bad!
This one’s my favourite of the surf shots CF!
But it seems as you forgot something about composition?
I would have shot the wave 1/3 more to the left?
Besides that I’m sorry to live on the other side of the globe.

That looks like waytoomuchfun mate. I would love to ride that from a jet ski and you’re right it is the only way once they get big as they are almost impossible to paddle into, they just move too fast!
Stop being so soft Christian. Get out there!
Anyway a bit of chill in the air keeps the sharks away.
