What could have been. If only we had a sunset like this, well I’m sure if we hung around enough we might have. The sculptures on Lake Ballard are fascinating. They are very alien looking and very fitting for this alien landscape. Oh for some water in this lake and a cracking sky. Flemming you would love this place, wide open and flat!

Gee , and i thought there wasn’t a cloud in the sky out there ….. shows how wrong I am.
Great perspective mate.
The detail is cool there bud!
Ahh look at all that flat wide open vast space! My kinda world, must go there. Perhaps another trip this upcoming Summer
Merv, I can summon the cloud with a wave of my hand!
Boys this is Helicon focus at it’s best. 5 shots blended together to make it tack sharp throughout!
Always up for another trip Flemming, let us know, I’m sure Markie would be in too.
And Mark can summon dogs as well , it’s an amazing talent. he he he .
and sunrises that are sunsets 6 hours away hehehe
would need those 24gb of ram to stack 5 shots from the phase i would imagine..very crispy
Awesome image CF the power of layers once again hehe you are getting some really nice images out of that Phase pitty you have to focus stack them but its all part of getting the perfect image and I am sure if we did the same with our Nikon’s and Canon’s we could get the same nearly.
.cheers CF.
I put up a new landscape on my blog and was wondering if you could drop by and have a look see how it fairs as trying to refine some techniques mate
Yep the focus stacking is an unnecessary evil but even looking back at recent pics from the 5d2 they could have done with it on occasions. It is all about getting the most perfect images possible.
Cool and yep – very alien… I like the tones but not the foreground footprints… damn humanoids !
Haha. Humaniods, I like that tone! Don’t worry I am working on something which will show the scene as if there were no people out there.
Wow CF you lost a bit of weight eating all that cat food!!! Great shot though……..
Haha Kim, yeah gave up the dog food as it was too fatty!
Sometimes it’s easy to forget the skill it takes to make something simple look good. I like the sense of mystery this shot evokes with the subdued pastel tones and somehow demands a story be attached to the image. I’m betting there are thousands of other shots of these statues that just look like statues in a dried out salt lake and do nothing more than remind you what it feels like after a colonoscopy!
….and there’s his mate. run, run lady, run before he catches you.
