I have a new found love for Broome after this trip. There is lots to photograph there and the holiday atmosphere is amazing. It is so different to the Pilbara. We stopped in at Karratha on the way up, it felt like I was there to work. No real nature to photograph. I hope Broome stays a tourist mecca, that is what we should all want. We need a place to relax and soak up what life is all about. Not power, greed and money, but good times with family and friends. What are your favourite holiday experiences? I bet they aren’t going on a mine tour. I think they might be watching the sun going down on a beautiful beach as these people are doing.
Nigel, Dave and I hired a heli and got some shots. I like this one, everything looks like it is stuck on to a sheet of paper on its side. Had to include the camels, it is Broome after all.

The vastness and tonal range of this photo are eye catching. Superbly captured.
got to love the Phase Leigh and a heli helps! Not too much skill involved, just point and shoot really.
I love Broome. Seriously thinking of moving there. Dunno how I will pull that off, but if I can dream it then I can make it happen.
Sweet image, brings back memories of many good walks and sunsets on this massive beach. Some day I plan to free those camels
LOVE this shot Christian. It’s one of those where you’re not quite sure what it is until you get up close…I’m a huge fan of interesting aerials.
Hey CF,
This is a wicked shot with a great subject.
Jamie
Flemming all you need to do is marry a Broome girl don’t you?
I have lots of aerials Sandy would like to have spent more time over Cable Beach but we had bigger fish to fry!
I love the people and the cars Jamie. I took them out to see what it would look like but it was much better with them in.
yup, that would work. Now have a new mission for November
Another cracker CF – kinda wish you isoldated the camels a little more – their shadows are amazing!
A very original way of viewing Cable Beach!
yeah we needed to be at 500ft and I needed a bigger lens on.
This reminds me of your altered landscape shot of the salt works at karratha very minimalist without the pollution!
yeah thanks Nige it smacks of ART photography!! hehe Lets hope it stays without the pollution.
I agree CF, I found going to Karratha for the first time really disappointing. It feels like a giant mining camp with an 80′s shopping center in the middle. There’s nothing to do but go to McDonalds! Port Hedland was a little bit better I thought, but after my run in with a security guard I left town!
How good is Broome though?! Relaxing on cable beach at sunset with a few beers is pretty good value.
Love the shot mate, would love to see more of the aerials!
Hey Christian, good on you for your trip to JPP and the publicity you brought up with you, i would love to have come up too, but i was driving the reception desk! I’ll be up there next year doing some stuff with Nigel, hopefully there will still be a James Price Point to camp at then…
Hi Christian, this image is BRILLIANT! It looks something between an Aboriginal dot painting and an Italian abstract. And then you realise it’s Christian hanging out a heli. I love it. Well done. Cheers

Dan Karratha is ruined, the landscape is so altered and affected it isn’t much chop for the landscape guys. Now if you are into Altered Landscapes it is a treasure trove! I have some new stuff of that but can’t show it yet.
Ah the old reception desk, you need to do something about that Adam. The fight has just begun. I think there will be time next year to see it.
Hi Sean, good to hear from you. I like it too. Just one of those lucky shots taken in an instant as we left Broome for JPP. Thanks for the comment mate.
I’m working on it now, getting out from behind the desk is my life’s mission at the moment. Got some good stuff lined up for next year… just have to make it through Christmas.
That’s a bloody good shot.
Thanks Hazel
