Hows this for a beautiful sky. We wait for years down south to get a sky like this. In the Kimberley they get one every week. Another reason it is so special. This was taken across the road from Matso’s Brewery. I seem to do my best work when I have a beer in hand. Nigel had to speed home because he didn’t bring his camera, Doh!. Dave was snapping away and we were all just gobsmacked by the beauty. Did we get munched by sandflies? You betcha! but it was worth it.
Make sure you check out and bookmark the Save the Kimberley website. The people behind it are doing fantastic work and they are all volunteers.

Ahh beer and photography, can it get any better??
Nice one Christian.
Very sweet image Christian … Would love to get up there sometime in the coming wet season, the skies would be amazing like this one …. Damn that Phase picks up all the soft colors so well ….
Well yes David it can, I had the most amazing squid for dinner too!!
Neal the build up was just starting to kick off when we left. So many good skys. Yep the Phase picks up everything. I did some massive stitches of this. This was only three images. I did a 10 image stitch but PT Gui didn’t like it. Tried it in photoshop, still didn’t like it that much but got a result. File size 6gb!
Would love to see some great skies like this for a change ….
Can’t resist sorry Neal……
lol
But it’s been pretty good up here so far!
Nice storms the last few days
Nice sky indeed.
Love the palette and the sunlit rainshaft with the rainbow there fletch – did you stitch or crop this one ?
stitch of three shots, came in at 99″ wide at full res.
Awesome ! wasn’t sure if you had time to do one or just pinged it off and cropped those glorious pixels. hehe
I am moving there, I so am. February and March are supposed to be awesome also but they had such a weird wet season this year. Was there for two weeks end of February and no rain at all and boring skies every day. Next time the Weather gods will sync with me I know it.
Truly stunning sky. And Neal is right, those big 16 bit pixels on the Phase captures those tones so well.
Indeed it was a very dry wet in the Kimberley this year, especially in the west. I was up there for most of Feb and March and it only really rained for a week. Practically no waterfalls and blazing hot clear days.
Hopefully this year will be better. It’s off to a good start already!
We will chat to the rain gods for you flemming and see what we can do!!
Cheers mate
It’s still wonderful to be in Broome even when the weather gods do not obey me (they are usually under my command but my powers failed).
Look forward to get there in November. Save a few clouds for me
Niiice!
Very nice Christian, its very simple but awesome at the same time I reckon….. NICE ! !
thanks Rod, Tim and Flemming.
Gorgeous image Christian, the different layers you have here are really great.
If there is one place in Australia that is worth saving, it is the Kimberley, keep up the good work.
looks nice out there CF photo looks good to mate!!! hehehe
Your right Andre, you saw it earlier this year so you know what is at stake. If more people could see it then we wouldn’t have any problems.
Antonio you need to get up there and have a look mate, take your sunscreen though!
Stunning sky! I was just in the Pilbara for a week and not a cloud in sight!
Awesome sky! Definitely a beautiful place up there !
Nice meeting you the other week too – Can’t beat that sushi at Peko Peko!!
the pilbara is just that little bit too south to get this good stuff. Was the same when I was driving home, nothing in the Pilbara.
Just a beautiful image Christian. We MUST create more awareness of this powerful land and prevent the destruction of such beautiful areas from short sighted economic and commercial gain. When will we all wake up… and work out how to not let the politicians whom we have elected to make foolish, short-sighted decisions?
