This photo of Karlamilyi National Park always reminded me of an old painting. So I wanted to help it along with an appropriate frame. This is the first time in my history doing photography that I have chosen a gold ornate frame. I must say I love it and will be doing more like this in the coming months. This image is 70″ wide and printed on the best art paper in the world, Cansons Rag Photographique.
What do you think?, and be honest. I would love to gage the reaction of other photographers.

I like it but I love using the gold trim around the matt. Nice if you could get rid of the reflection of the glass….
I must admit it does give it an oil painting look but I think the tones of the photo also help bring it together.
Thanks Peta, I’m going to do another soon. I love looking at old paintings, hopefully they will come back in fashion.
Can you show us one without the reflection, thats what I think !!!!!!!
Anyway I personally don’t like the frame sorry, I think that’s yesterdays look.
yes but remember when flairs were cool then not cool then cool and now not cool again! It is a bit like the gold frame!
dude it is just a quick pic to show off the frame. Was too hard to get no reflections. Just don’t look at those bits!!
Gold frames are out except in Buck Palace. 99.9% of house renos are along modern lines.
But then again you only need .1% of the population to like this and it’s sold so maybe it’s a good idea !!!!
I was talking to a antique dealer in Guilford the other day and he was telling me his line of business is dead at present because very few people today, particularly the younger generation, want antiques.
Looks great! Seeing it for real would do it more justice than this photo though… What’s the price tag?! Printed by the Epson?
i couldn’t stop looking at it at the gallery, a bit like looking in the mirror it is so spunky! haha, that is for Putty! Printed on the Epson 9900 price $3995
Very nice CF, thought this was the best image at the exhibit and with a frame to really show off the post production work … …. I remember showing you a Sydney Opera House I had done like this some time back with the gold trim, came up pretty damn nice as well …
I think P Diddy would like this in his crib! Go the gold I say!
A yep from me little buddy, but like any frames they need to suit the surroundings and decor in the house it is going to live in.
In the right surroundings and house this will work for sure, but perhaps not in a modern house???
There are still plenty of people renovating old style houses and your normal framing style pitches to a more modern look, so maybe, just maybe, you will crack open a new market with this more contemporary style of frame?
a new market, never thought about that angle Markie. I was thinking of gifting this to the royals as a wedding present. Might look nice in Buckingham Palace!
where is the facebook like button?
Yeah Wills and Kate might like it. If they dont I will have it, I will just have to remove it from the frame sorry mate Im a minimalist at heart. My favourite from the FORM exhibition
mate if you buy it I will stick it anywhere you like!! ;-0)
Always looking for a new angle mate! Gotta be different and create not compete!
I am sure this image would be amazing in Buckingham Palace…the trick will be to find the way to get it in there!
Have a crack and see if you can swing it…I am sure there is a way!
We have been trying to get Rick Stein, and a few other chefs on board TN and now this year it seems we have 4 well known chefs wanting to join us…squeaky door gets the oil mate!
sounds like a challenge! I like challenges. Might ring the Queen tomorrow!
I like it CF. In todays world of having your undies on the outside it brings back a bit of class for sure. Would look brilliant in the lobby of some hotel in Abu Dhabi. Give the Prince a call, tell him I sent you!
I didnt ask to stick it anywhere I will leave that up to Charles to work out
Great stuff, I’m a fan of the old style framing as well
Personally I would have probably put a wider matting in place.. but each to their own, and you are the successful one, so maybe I should follow your lead

Man thats one briliant capture..and how good does that frame look surrounding it…Yep…I believe its Royal Material! Get on that plan my man!
Beautiful image and you are right, the frame goes very nicely with it. As others have said, it will also depend on the decor of the house as if people want to buy it. Certainly would be worthwhile to have in the gallery, shows a mix of options for the framing and may open up some extra sales, as Mark said, plenty of people still doing the older style renovations and they tend to be the ones with money
Frame suits the image Christian, looks similar to one of the early landscape paintings you see in museums. Like it!
Yup! This would do well in Europe, plenty of old-skool style houses and flats and antiques do very well as many young people as well like unique furniture with character and less IKEA style boringness.
If you fail with the English Royal family, I’ll give the Danish Royal family a call for you
I love it CF amazing fine art piece finished off with a fine art frame!! Nice
Its a winner for me. Not sure if you can carry it off with images of shipping containers, but it works for this kind of John Glover / William Piguenit landscape. Plus its gotta be worth more if its gilt-edged, doesn’t it?
It’s not my cup of tea but that image does look pretty good in that frame with the dark tones and the frame certainly ‘ages’ the scene. If I owned an older style house in Subi with ornate arch doorways and a long hallway I’d buy it. As I don’t live in said house I’d have to pass….although I still love that image.
Loved the image at FORM. Looks like you’ve achieved what you set out to do but I wonder if the frame takes some of the attention from the image itself. I’ll have to check it out next time I’m at the palace
Frame suits to a tee, love it. I’ve got an old house with polished jarrah floor boards, big wide hallway with plenty of wall space if you want to hang it here for a while to see how it would fit in with an older style house. Ha Ha.
I reckon gold is in, it’s just the rest of the world is out of step. Mind you, I have half a dozen framed prints up at David Oliver’s studio that I never sold BECAUSE they were in gold frames – some I even re-printed and re-framed to make the sale! But I like ornate gold frames – especially when the photo is only average because at least the buyer is getting something good for their money. Not talking about your wonderful work, of course!
when you are at the top you can influence other photographers but the general public need more convincing. As one nice girl said in my visitors book “anyone could do this with photoshop and a fancy frame” Maybe she is right.
So did you enroll her in your Photoshop workshop?
That girl works for KD !!!
Anyone with half a brain can leave a meaningless comment without having any understanding of what they’re talking about – I do it here all the time! And I don’t even have half a brain
haha if you want meaningless comments this is the place to come! I have a treasure trove of meaningless dribble, ask my wife, she will tell you. Stuart she was obviously a purist so didn’t need photoshop, or a frame for that matter. See just must have emailed everything!
Hey CF I like it like you say it gives an old style feel to the image and it suits it mate thumbs up from me eh
Hi Christian,
I love the image. Regardless of decor, other furnishings etc in a house it doesn’t matter. As far as a photo in a frame goes these two compliment each other perfectly. Good on you for bringing back some old skool
Hey CF, I think it is great! Timeless classy look. I might be biased as we have some largish gold framed images on the wall
