We had some great lightning come through last night. By the time I got the car packed most of it had gone. Didn’t notice any forks but the light show was still pretty impressive. Shot this just around midnight from the top of Mount Duckworth in Yallingup. Need to get a cable release for the x100. It performed well considering the low light and long exposure. iso 1600 showed a bit of noise especially at 1.5 minutes. Need to run some noise ninja over them to see what happens. This one was shot at iso 400 F/5.6, 20sec.

Are those stars in the upper right corner? If so, I guess the x100 is a better piece of gear than I thought.
We aren’t having thunderstorms, just more crummy snow! We miss Oz!!!
Hello Christian, bummer on the lack of forks! We have had squat down here this year. Mr. Fuji is staying here soon, might have to hide his X100 when he is packing to go home,,,,
Might have to hide your D3s in exchange
Surreal light. One of the more interesting lightning shots I’ve seen, because you don’t actually see the lightning itself and it’s as if the clouds themselves are glowing. The stars on the right add some interesting detail.
thanks Armand. I wanted just one big assed fork though, would have made it for me.
Pretty cool Christian.
I like lightning oh yes i do
thanks Luke, the best thing was it was warm, even at midnight. I could have shot all night but I was worried my wife was worried where I was.
The couple of stars in the top right makes the image. Let’s go shoot some stars when I come down
I have this idea of a Sugarloaf double xposure shot with a massive milkyway behind it.
lets do it Flembot
Sweet…I tried a time-lapse of the stars from about 6:30 till about 1030…then went and grabbed my camera and the lens had so much condensation on it that every shot was rubbish…WIN!!!
Cant believe how much the swell picked up..we could hear it all night from our place up wildwood rd…went to northpoint early this morning but the ocean was a bit sea sick…cow bomie was breaking though…
took a few shots around yals today..ill have to work them up and put one on the blog…I would have rang you for a shoot but i lost my phone on the weekend…WIN #2…
mate sounds like a bummer weekend. I got a few shots off. Swell was cool around wyadup rocks. The waterfall was more like a raging torrent.
Yeh i imagine it would have been! I checked out Wyadup during the day..was going to go for a surf at injidup but couldnt even get in the car park there was so many people around..gave up and took some photos instead..Mike will be happy to know I even took some video…im in the process of trying to learn final cut pro..im starting to feel he has the talent mate haha…..
Hey Christian, this looks like a great little camera!
Have added you to my Blogroll too!

great clouds and very nice exposure … Like the pin stars to the upper right, nice touch …
thankx Neal, worked a treat considering it was bloody dark, windy, I had no cable release and I am scared of the dark! The stars poking out was a bit of a bonus.
