Paul Theseira is organising a non stop bike ride to Broome to bring awareness to the looming Gas Plant at James Price Point. It will be a 24 hour ride that should last for 5.5 days all going good. I have put my hand up to be one of the riders along with Paul. David Bettini is talking about joining us so who else wants to get fit and do your bit for the Kimberley?
See all the details here
We will be leaving on the 21st of August.

I would if I had time.
Just wondering what I can do?? Hmmm I’m not good on a bike, but perhaps I could drive over from the East Coast and do something… or assist with sponsorship. Any ideas anyone?
Julie
any help would be awesome Julie. There will be lots to do to keep the riders going 24 hours a day for 5 days.
i’ll put my thinking cap on …
Julie
Thanks CF, much appreciated! While we as humans can use our voices to say if we’re in favour of this gas hub or not, the sea creatures that live there don’t. So, please help the cause and help be the voices of the humpback whales, the snubfin dolfins, the dugongs, the green turtles and all. Thanks, we’ll keep you all informed. And in terms of helping out, there are many ways to help if you can’t ride. Talk to your family and friends about your oppostition to the gas hub, email Federal Environment Minister Mr Tony Burke. Also, we need a support team, to assist in driving the support bus for the trip, preparing meals, etc. I’ll put up a logistic plan shortly. Thank you all!
Cheers… Paul
I am unfortunately not around at that time or I would jump on the bike definitely. But I try to do everything I can to support all the campaigns in Kimberley, had the pleasure of meeting a lot of the good campaign people up there when I was in Broome.
The Bike To Broome website is live, http://www.biketobroome.org.
Julie I did this once in the UK….. some people I knew cycled coast to coast for a charity and I drove ahead each day (with another friend) and set up for lunch and dinner.
Yep..that sounds like a great idea. That’s sort of what i was thinking of myself. I’m waiting however for Paul to put up on his website all the things he requires and I want to work in with what he sees are the needs for his endeavour.
It will take me a week of pretty full on days to drive to Perth….. then a week up to Broome…. then a week back if I head directly home…. That’s 3 weeks of total committment ….. and fuel……so I have to work out how best my time and couple of thousand bucks in fuel can be spent for the cause.
I’ve sent emails with info and spread the word to all my address book and I’ve found that the younger kids have been putting info up on their facebook pages.
If anyone has any teenagers who are concerned and sensitive about whales and the environment, I think that is a good way to go. – to get them to start to feel passionate about this amazing area and spread the word via their facebook friends and links.
Julie
Thank you Julie and all.
Please check out the Volunteer page on http://www.biketobroome.org, I’ll develop a full logistics plan and let you know how everyone can help. But you know what, we’ll need a volunteer to help run the program especially once we’re on the road.
I’m dealing with The Wilderness Society, and hopefully shortly we’ll be able to go forward with raising funds through sponsorships.
Yes, get as many people talking about this as possible, through your kids, schools, social media friends (look me up on Facebook and Twitter), hey ring up the radio stations and ask them if they’ve heard of Bike To Broome, and if not, why not? Let’s get everyone talking about it, and let’s give these voice-less sea creatures a voice.
If you’d like to ring me, my number is 0419 917 999.
Thanks again…Paul
