Christian, I think the top Gold image is the best of the lot and certainly worth the award alone! I still don’t get the third image, the one that’s in the Melbourne Sun slide show of the award winners, but what can I say, judges are odd ducks that make me look normal.
The textured shot of Port Hedland (?) really works well and is very painterly and is well worth n award all by itself.
Michael’s stuff is primo too!
Thanks Steve, your stuff would do well in the awards!
Yeah that second image is a beautaaay.
Like that third image. So far it’s the only AIPP image i’ve seen which looks… well…natural.
yeah it is not the thing to have natural looking shots if you want to win Stakky. Some amazingly creative people around.
I watched the judging of these and it was interesting the spread of scores they gave and the comments they made.
It’s a subjective thing art ,thats for sure.
sure is Merv
Congratulations again mate, no doubt the best work you have ever done. Especially no. 2 is a stunning piece of art.
It has been a thrill to see how much you have moved from pictures to real art in a year and a half or so via it seems the Pilbara project. Brilliant my friend, and such an inspiration!
Thanks Flemming, yes learnt a lot over the past year. The Pilbara Project being a big part of that learning.
Top work mate! Cant say I will be a winner with the AIPP judges cause this isnt my thing but they are cool wor for sure and you have earnt it mate!
thanks Dylan
Well earned recognition Christian. I managed to see the second being judged, always great to hear the discussions of the judges. The processing and composition on these images is great. Out of interest, what type of paper did you print these for the APPA’s?
Congrats again.
printed on Cansons Baryta mate, love that paper.
Brilliant work. I too watched the judging. The 2 Gold images are so dam good. Great work.
Thanks James, congratulations on your three silvers this year too

Mr…oops, I mean Master Christian
Congratulations…well done you!! I especially love the top two images!
Well Done to Michael too, an Awesome Video!
Must be the season, I just found out that 3 out of 4 of my images got into the Semi-finals in the Veolia Environment Wildlife Photographer of the Year Competition
… not quite a placing, or a Master, or should I say MS, but I’m still pretty happy as it’s my first attempt.
Sam
congratulations Sam, that is awesome.
Thanks a lot Christian!
Nice work Master Dude…like em all mate and as Flembot said the last year has indeed seen a change in your style….always looking to improve you are…done it you have!
thanks Markie Mark.
Congratulations on your award
Congrats on the awards mate, well deserved
Hey mate, Its funny to see how the style has changed even from just last year. Personaly I am more a fan of the less arty shots. My fav from above is number three, but all are excellent Photos. Well done again.
Dan
You’re a deservoing winner Christian. Well done.
All great images but the second is genius. Love it
It must be so much more fulfilling creating images such as these. You’ve got some even more amazing work ahead of you.
Congratulations! Very well deserved! I love the tree photo. Beautifully mysterious.
Hey mate,
Congrats on the awards, very well deserved!! Absolutley love that third shot!
Steve and I have joined forces and have started a new blog together at the following link:
http://www.saulvisuals.com/blog/
Do you think you would be able to delete the link to my old blog, and update your sidebar to include the new link? legend!..sorry…Master!!
Let us know what you think too! we have put up a bunch of new shots from the last couple of months!
Congrats Christian! The silver award should of been the winner for me…. beautiful and intriguing. However the two dark one’s are definite AIPP winners.
Love those 2 gold ones, mate: especially the moodiness of the outback shot; while the 2nd one looks like a beautiful old painting that someone has found in an old attic. Superb!
Loving the grungy processing CF, beautiful work!
Hi Christian, Congratulations, an award well won. Inspirational work mate.
I must be phsychic because I said that the top shot was absolutely awesome at the Pilbara opening. lol
Great shot’s Christian, I’m a bit like Steve in wondering about the judges choices, (no offense to your work at all) it’s just a great learning curb for a beginner to see what works and what the judges do and don’t like.
I think it is something that you definately have to look in to ALOT and you obviously have. I think this is why you have been doing all of the things that you have been lately in order to take out these awards which is AWESOME.
I think it’s about daring to be different and it’s not all about just taking pretty photo’s it’s about really showing your artistic side not just that your a photographer.
Does that make sense?
A HUGE congrats to you both for the awards.
Well done Christian! Fantastic images! A well deserved award I’d say.
I lived in Port Hedland for 5 years and I think you got the feel just right.
As usual when I see your work it inspires me to get out with the camera.
I’ve just moved to London so hopefully will have a few grungy London shots soon…..
These are beautiful. Great work Christian.
