This is what the end of the world would look like

This is what the sky looked like this weekend, I walked outside and thought, we finally did it! Luckily I’m still here and the sky today is blue……….mostly. Hey and only one shot!! what is going on!!!

Shark Attack!

This is a pic I took late last week at Mitchell Rocks. This kid was playing in the water and playing with death, his mum was watching but the surf was huge. I would have been a little concerned if it was my child. Anyway it is a 9 image stitch. The big question……….keep the kid or get rid of him?? Let me know what you think. When I say get rid of him, I don’t mean in a wooden box underbelly style, just a bit of photoshop stamping!! (for all you stalkers out there!)

A Flaming good night

Thanks to all the guys that turned up for the 3rd course held at my Dunsborough gallery. We managed to keep talking till midnight and discussed all aspect of photography and the benefits of solar panels on the roof!!! A special mention to my new sponsors Flametree Wines for their stunning wine. I think it made my job easier after a nice relaxing glass or two. As I mentioned if you guys have any questions please put them forward on the blog and we can try to get some answers. Nicky said you were the best looking bunch of blokes yet, don’t tell those from course 1 and 2. I didn’t notice, your all ugly blokes to me!!

Cheers

Flametree Wines

For those of you who are coming to my next course you will have the pleasure of trying the latest releases from Flametree wines. They have kindly sponsored the night and I’m sure you will be wanting to take a few bottles of this home with you to impress your friends. If you are into wine check them out at Flametree Wines I have put their link in the sidebar of the blog. That way you will never run out of wine again. Those leaving Dunsborough after my course can pull in and stock up as it is on the corner of Caves RD and Chain Ave, the only way if your heading back to Perth.

Lucky Bay, Esperance

This is how nice it can be in Esperance if you have never been. Cape Le Grand national park is spectacular. Neal if your worried about the drive it is worth it. This isn’t my best shot but it was a magic day and I thought I would share it with you. 9 image stitch, and the water was a mess.

Synergy go stick your Power

Just got our power bill for this month, $15………we couldn’t believe we would use that much, so p*ssed off,……….then we noticed that this was a credit. We actually made $15. Now that 85mm is only about $3485. At this rate I’ll have that new lens in 19.36 years, but it will be free!!! Synergy stop polluting the atmosphere we don’t need ya stinking power!!

The Perfect Storm

This is a pic I took today of the Leeuwin Sailing Ship that was just off the coast at Meelup. There was lightning going off in the distance and I was thinking to myself…..nah I wouldn’t be sailing off into that. A single image capture, ok it was hard just to take one shot. Lee ND Grads and fuji the wonderdog to keep me company. Hope someone else is taking photos.

More Frenchmans Peak

This is a 4 image stitch looking from Frenchmans Peak to the East. I only saw two other cars in two and a half hours, no stalkers. Two ND Grads stacked, one ND also to slow things up a little. Made for a dramatic image.

Stirling Range Sunset

Sunset over the Stirlings. Had been raining all day and then cleared to this. It is a classic example of being in the right place at the right time. I’n my mind that is one of the most important things if you are to get a great photo. Forget all the technical stuff, without the magic light your job is that much harder.

Ilford High Gloss Media

Just got a photo back from Image Finish mounted on Aluminium. I printed it on my Canon ipf8000 using Ilfords High Gloss Media. It came out with an almost identical look to those printed on Flex. It is an awesome product but unsure on the archival life. If any of you can’t sleep and you find some info on this product let me know. I am working tonight to catch up after being away. I hate business sometimes! Must say, the blog is taking up so much of my time now, add that to about 50 emails a day and it is no wonder I don’t produce many photos at the moment.

Stirling Ranges

this is a pic taken yesterday morning at the stirling ranges. 9 image stitch taken with the nd grads. It was a little dark so I lightened it and ended up with some crappy looking pixels in the shadows. Looks good at 50% though. The composition isn’t too good either with it looking a little unbalanced. I like the drama but this probably won’t sell. I would like it hanging on my wall at home though! The Stirlings are some of the most dramatic mountains I have seen anywhere, even NZ.
