Back to the aviation theme. Took this shot at a recent fly-in at Busselton Airport. Love my planes!

The Winner is

Matt Lauder, not that he needs my help! Congratulation Matt hope you find it useful. Thanks to all those who entered, and the advice given. I am still thinking about the whole thing so will keep you posted. It was amazing how much response I got from this competition. It is clear that Photoshop is where most people want help.

More from Fraser Gallop Estate

This was a nice scene, shame the leaves had all gone, still it helps add to the graphic nature of the image. 12 image stitch, not taken from the roof of the van!!!

The vines are looking great

This another view of Fraser Gallop Vineyard. It is a stunning property and the wine is pretty stunning too. The owner has a driveway to his house lined with between 500 and 600 mature Claret Ash. Beautiful if you can afford it. We had three teenie ones in our last house and they were $150 each!!

Tutorial Video

YouTube Preview Image This is a short video talking about the new tutorials I will be putting together soon. They will look and sound like this but will not be dodgy quality as you will download full res versions via the net. They will run for probably 5 to 10 minutes and will be able to be viewed on your computer running along side Photoshop, …….well that is the idea!! So the big question is how much do you think I will charge? The person with the closest figure wins a free one! I have put one together for the new image of Fishing Boat Harbour. I will talk you through the whole process and why I do what I do. As with the nature of light each image is different and requires different photoshop techniques. By watching a few different ones you will get a better understanding of how I work and make me more money!!! the good side effect of being so bloody generous!!

Competition Time

Ok, to win the photoshop tutorial here is the question. “How much will I be selling the tutorials for when they finally become available?” This is a best guess wins type thing so no real skill needed. Also please suggest what you would like to pay for it. Will help me gage if I am pricing myself too high or low!! The closest to the figure I have set will get the goods!!!
Send me an email christianfletcher@westnet.com.au with your answer. You have to the 27th of this month to enter.

Well what are you waiting for!

Maritime Museum

Another shot from the morning………….very early morning, in fact it was still night.

Monument

This shot out Eastway’s Eastway, I think Pete likes to de-saturate his blues which I tried. It does look better than the glossy blue sky it had. Only 6 image stitch, and I think the exposure was about 30sec each image.

Any one for Fish and Chips?

I had to come to Perth last week for a launch of the Canon 1ds mark 3 put on by Team Digital. It was a fun night and I got to meet some of the local pros (photographer types, not hookers!). Got up the next morning and managed a few new pics, this is one that turned out ok. The light was good for about an hour so managed to shoot this, the Monument, the Maritime museum, the harbour and Cottesloe Beach. Pretty productive. I have made a short video of how I arrived at this image and will think about making it available to one lucky person soon. This is a prelude to making some of my image processing in photoshop available for a small fee to who ever would want to see it. I have many requests for a photoshop course but I think this would be the best way to reach everyone without them leaving home or spending a fortune. This is where the real magic in an image happens. Will announce a competition soon to win this video.

Solar Rebate Axed

Oh well lets go and use this planet whilst we can. Now the government has axed the solar rebate for households with a combined income of over $100,000. Great, what a good idea! I wonder how much that will save the government. When you think there are only about 250 solar houses in this state anyway, they are going to save heaps. May as well knock solar on the head and stick to what we have lots of …..yummy coal !! I never liked Midnight Oil anyway!! Bunch of Wankers!!!!!!!! If this pisses you off too send an email to Peter Garrett here

Mustang

This ones for you Dave, not a Spitie but just as good. This guy had just taken off. Image is a little soft when blown up but a cool image for us plane geeks. 400mm lens taken with my old 20D.

Hornet

Whilst we are on the subject of aviation, I took this pic at Avalon also. I think I may have the date wrong on the layout!! it was two shows ago so that makes it almost 4 years old. Shot this with the Canon 100-400mm at 400mm. Not too bad considering it was handheld. Love the Hornet displays and this Aussie pilot stuck it to the Yanks in their f-16. He was definitely showing off for the crowd. Very cool…………….if your a plane geek like me!

Oh Yeah

Hows this, didn’t have a shot of a Spitfire Dave! Took the image of the F111 doing it’s usual dump and burn airshow routine. This aircraft never ceases to amaze me, and it slots into this scene just perfect. Might try and sell this to the airforce!! They probably won’t have any money if they waste it on the super hornets or the F-35.

Skyscape

This is the sky I had the other night for the shots at Fraser Gallop wines. Could imagine flying around these clouds, would be amazing. This looks like it was taken from the air. I used a Canon 100 to 400 for this and it was a 6 image stitch, and not taken with the pano head. Surprised at how PT GUI sorted this image out for me.

Oh what a night

Thanks to all who attended the 4th course this weekend. It was a hoot and great to see the girls out in force. The Flametree wines went down a treat, especially after a few hours when people started to realise I wasn’t going to shut up!! The only way to beat the boredom was to drink Flametrees stunning wines and hope to fall asleep. I think this was the best course yet, definitely the best looking bunch since the night Merv French attended!! Got the usual sore throat from talking all night, will someone please tell me to shut up!!! Looking forward to course number 5.

Cheers

last night

Took this pic last night for Fraser Gallop Estate. It is a magnificent property and the sky made it easy to shoot. Took this stitched pano from the roof of the van. Not the most stable base but it worked.
