mark III shot

This is a shot from this morning at the Rivermouth at Prevely. There was a huge swell but no one out surfing. This shot wasn’t as sharp as I wanted as I still didn’t know how to lock the mirror up. Found out eventually but it was too late for this one. It has been printed and will be at PRA if you want a look at it in the flesh!

Winemaker shots

These are some shots I took today, well all except one! They were shot with the 1ds mark III
and came out pretty good. I think and this may be just different circumstances the mark II has less noise at 800 iso. The stuff of qynn at the pub on the mark II was cleaner than the mark III. Maybe just the particular light?? It is still an awesome camera and that viewfinder is brilliant. All hand held, just love pissing the tripod off!!

PMA Conference Video

YouTube Preview Image This is a video of the PMA conference that Michael took when we were there. Will give you some insight to what it is all about and hopefully inspire you to go next year. It is a must for those into photography, one big lolly shop. Keep an eye out early for Tom Putt, he would want you all to see him, and he could do with all the publicity he can get! Also a sneak look at a few other notable photographers that we all aspire to. Don’t forget to watch it in High Def, it is that much better. Double click the video above and it will take you to youtube so you can view it in HD

Bird Flu

Ok, see, I can do cheery subjects. This is specifically for Merv. Even the girls at the gallery were complaining about the blog getting a little dark. They are all looking for new jobs and I’ll continue to do what I want. Some new photos coming soon! Yeah right!! Have a 1ds mark 3 for the week, early tests show it to be better than the mark 2, I guess it has to be, just wish I could buy one!!

Surfing Vid

watch?v=SzwOo5zSZqg This is a vid Michael put together for a mate who isn’t a half bad surfer. If your interested in getting some footage of yourself carving it up let us know. BTW if you have an account with youtube you get the option of watching these vids in higher def. Worth it is you have a reasonable internet connection.

Skull-king around wasting time

Ok, now your all probably getting really worried about my new direction! I love this gothic stuff, but please don’t think I’m a satanic photographer from hell. I still like fluffy animals and pastel colours, they just aren’t as fun to draw. The eyes on this look a bit on the evil side, but at least the skull is smiling!!!

5th course late night epic

Thanks to all those who came to last nights course, it was heaps of fun and I think, and I say this every time, it was the best one yet, way better than the one Merv did!! So much free wine and food!!! Sorry Merv I forgot you guys got nothing!!
We ended up just before 1am so I’m feeling a little tired today, it is a shame the kids woke me at 5.30am. Oh well this is the life of a struggling photographer. Congratulations to Kate for winning the photo, it went to a good home. Ask her about the quality of the print from the Canon and don’t forget to say, “Man I wish I had one of those Canon printers”, she was thinking of buying mine!!!
I must say they were a hungry lot too and only one piece of cake was left. I think Brook had three piece though!!!, getting his moneys worth! :-) Ingrid I hope your feeling ok today, not too hung over ;-)
Special thanks to Andy for coming all the way from Brisbane only to find out I’m a fraud!! sorry I should have told you;-)
Cheers everyone

H R Geiger

This movie affected me so much, I even remember seeing it at the theater and eating a mars bar as it started. I soon realised I was going to get my ass kicked when the alien exploded out of the guys stomach. I was about 12 or something and at that point I thought, I shouldn’t be watching this, sensitive soul I was. Needless to say I put the mars bar down and watched the rest of the movie through semi closed eyes. If my mate wasn’t with me I would have walked but I had to be tough and stick it out. I thought this would be fun to draw as I love HR Geigers work, man that guy has some issues, check him out if you dont mind a trip to the dark side!!

parrot-dise

Bugger taking photos of wildlife, I’ll just draw them. I,m proud of this one as I didn’t use a photo to trace the outline. Drawn in Corel Painter and tweaked in photoshop. Still not photo realistic but I’ll keep trying till I get it right. I get more satisfaction doing this than taking photos because I have to work so much harder. I can see a new career path coming!!

400mm Stitch

This pic was taken with the 100mm-400mm don’t know what focal length it was on though. Nice to get the compression and shallow depth of field.

Got the Wacom Tablet

This is the first drawing done on the new wacom tablet. Makes it so much easier to blend and draw shapes. This is taken from the photo below of Qynn, he looks like he is sucking eggs but it is a work in progress. Had a problem with the lips and nose. Corel painter is amazing. Combined with photoshop it is a wicked way to paint. Hey no brushes to wash out!!!

Boy Band

I couldn’t resist taking the piss out of Qynn. I love this photo but the guy used to be in a heavy metal band. Hope he sees the funny side. I’m sure he would. Qynn is as far from a boy band member as you could get. Mind you he has softened a bit in the last few years, now his music is girl friendly I guess. Sorry if I have offended the girls out there that love a bit of heavy moshin!

Qynn live

Photo of Qynn playing live at the Dunsborough Hotel on Friday night. Handheld with the 50mm at iso 800. No noise to speak of! Brilliant.

Qynn

These are some pics from a shoot I had today with a musician who gigs around the country. Top bloke and man can he play a guitar. Far out he makes it look soooo easy. His name is Qynn and if your in the Southwest make sure you check him out. Shot these at home with the 50mm.
