Don't Mess with this Guy

ganster web

I haven’t done any drawing for a while and after spending the morning with the kids drawing I got inspired to have another crack at Corel Painter. This guy was in a book I bought for my kids on how to draw and paint cartoon characters. I wish I had more time for this type of pursuit. I always end up doing it late at night and rushing it. Will have to slow down and try to work more fine detail into it. Someone give me 48 hours in one day please!

Anyone want to buy this?

boodjidup bg

This is a property I photographed yesterday for a guy in Margaret River. I think it is for sale for 1.2 mil but don’t quote me on that. This creek runs right through it so this would be yours to do whatever with. Stunning property and you would never know it was there as it is on private property. If you want to buy it let me know so I can extract a spotters fee from the agent!! haha as if!!

Ok I Had time to waste!

polar winter

So I was bored too. I know I should be working on new images or tutorials but I wanted to have a Friday arvo wind down with a bit of fun. Just got back from a funeral and needed a bit of a pick up. The polar bear was shot at the Brisbane Museum probably stuffed there too. I cut it out with Fluid Mask 3 and plonked it on the Narrabeen pic. A bit of this and a bit of that and ta da, a great way to waste 30 min!!

5D and Final Cut Training @ CFPI Dunsborough

Hi Bloggers it’s Mike Here. You know the not so famous twin who shoots a bit of video with the 5D MK2. I’m wondering if any of you guys are interested in a course run by Apple guru Stuart Harris regarding the 5D and how you produce and work your video through to a final edit through Final Cut Express/Pro. Yeh!! I know you still guy’s don’t rate us video guy’s but with the video capabilities of the 5D wouldn’t you like to know how to make some money from it? Hey if I new that it would get Christian off my back.

Brendan is looking to run a course in Perth at PRA and whilst Stuart is here I’m going to try and whisk him off to Dunsborough to run one down here. Now I’m sure Brendan can fill a course in Perth but is there anyone interested in traveling to sunny Dunsborough for a much nicer experience?

Can you please leave an expression of interest on this blog so we can see if we can do something. It would be a waste not to get involved with this Guru from Apple as he taught me two things I didn’t know at PMA in about 10 minutes. Now if he can just teach me how to make money?????????

Update on the TNFP Landscape Awards

Hi all, thanks for your comments on this possible competition. To make it all work I need to get at least 140 people to enter. The entry fee will be $50 and that allows you to submit 4 images, so 4 chances to pull off the big prize. What is the big prize? Read below

IMG_0595.JPGWelcome aboard the magnificent True North in magnificent Sydney Harbour. Enjoy a sumptuous dinner as you are treated to an evening cruise on one of the finest harbours in the world!
Day 1
New Years Eve
Visit Sydney’s famed Taronga Zoo or take-off in the helicopter for a scenic flight over the Harbour. Spend the afternoon swimming and beach combing on Quarantine or Store beach as the chefs prepare a barbeque lunch like no other!

Then enjoy a leisurely cruise to Middle Harbour before taking up one of Sydney’s best vantages to witness the Harbour Bridge fireworks display – Happy New Year!

Day 2
After an early morning cruise along Sydney’s revered northern beaches – enjoy breakfast in the beautiful surrounds of Pittwater. Morning activities will include a walk to the Barrenjoey Lighthouse, beach combing and a scenic cruise past the Pittwater Yacht clubs. There may also be a chance to walk from Longnose Point to Flint & Steel Bay through the Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park – Australia’s second oldest national park.

A helicopter flight to the Hunter Valley and wine tasting at our feature winery is sure to be a cruise highlight!

Whilst you are enjoying lunch the True North will cruise to Maitland Bay. Enjoy a swim or a bush walk through the surrounding national park. Sunset drinks and hors d’oeuvres will be served on the beach before an evening cruise to Jerusalem Bay.

Day 3
Wake up to the shrill of the Jerusalem Bay cicadas. Join the crew for a bush walk along the Jerusalem Bay Bush Trail or head out in the tenders for sight seeing and swimming. Then savour a lunch on the sparkling waters of Cowan Creek, or join the heli-flight to the Blue Mountains and enjoy lunch at Echoes Boutique Hotel – 2007 winner of “Restaurant of the Year”!

In the afternoon the True North will anchor at the mouth of the mighty Hawkesbury. From here we head out to Glenworth Valley for your choice of horse riding, kayaking, abseiling or quad bike riding. Or, maybe a visit to a local oyster farm is more your style?

And in the evening something special – a live band to make your last night onboard a night to remember!

Day 4 The True North will cruise back into Sydney Harbour for 0800 disembarkation.

So that is the scoop on the major prize and remember it is for you and a friend, would be a great place to propose or maybe that second honeymoon or just take your mother (if you have no mates). I will be getting some other sponsors to get on board to offer a range of other big prizes so your chance to win something would be pretty good. Forget the APPA’s this comp will deliver, no printed certificates just kick @r$e prizes.
As it stands now we have had roughly 50 people put their hand up to enter, this is without knowing the cost to do so. So we need another 100 odd so if you have any friends that might like to enter and you know there is know way in hell they will beat you get them to express their interest.

So what do I get from all of this, nothing but peace, love and harmony.

Cheers

The Christian Fletcher TNFP Landscape Awards

After reading the comments about the Canon APPA awards I am thinking about running my own dedicated landscape awards. Now it is just an idea at this stage but I have just had a meeting with Mark Stothard from True North and I am thinking of offering one of the cabins on True North as the prize. This will be for the winner and their partner. I still need to look into the legalities of running such a competition but what I would like to know right now is who would be interested in entering. So all you people who visit my blog but don’t post a reply can you please leave a ” yes I would be interested” so I know it will be worth running. The APPA awards are for pros that are members of the AIPP. That excludes most of you out there so these awards could become the non industry standard and the must enter event every year. The judging will be by a panel of three and everything will be done on-line. If this first event goes well then we may offer the whole of True North up to win for 18 lucky photographers and their partners. How good would that be. Let me know what you think.

Cheers

This is a short interview with the man who has perfected night photography. Sorry about the sound quality. Shot this at Jurrasic Park and the swell was pretty big, hence the noise.

Why all the baths, is it Sharks!

sea baths Seems like every beach in Sydney has a bath or two. I love them and how cool would it be if WA had more. There used to be one at Cottesloe Beach but it never looked as good as these. A stitched image taken with the ND and ND Grads. Nice sunset and the first of the many soakings my shoes got.

Narembeen Baths

narembeen The landscapes, seascapes, cityscapes, peoplescapes Sydney have to offer are just amazing. Probably my favourite place to shoot on this whole trip. No wonder there are so many good photographers here. Love this shot. Used my ND and converted the raw image to a tungsten WB.
