MRROS Collaborative Exhibition with John Miller

Collaboration with photographer Christian Fletcher and jeweller John Miller

John Miller Design took a different approach to interpreting my photo - he chose 5 images and intricately wove them together in his amazing sterling silver art piece. Very clever and different. It took over 100 hours of hand carving to achieve the result.

John has been part of Margaret River Region Open Studios since it began 9 years ago. HIs gallery is worth visiting.

More about John's piece-

"To do justice to Mr Fletcher’s photographic art was a real challenge for me. To capture the drama, depth, colour, texture and scale of the work would be daunting in any circumstance. But to put this onto a little ring or pendant was truly beyond my scope as a metalsmith. So I chose to combine several images, hand engraved onto a sheet of silver plate. This could, if needed be joined to become a bracelet, or a printing plate using printers ink, or framed. I chose five images of different textures and shapes then attempted to ‘blend’ them together. Nonetheless, the project was a real stretch of my engraving and creative skills. Thanks so much to Christian and Jenny for this very rewarding project." John Miller, Yallingup.
