Down South has been named Lonely Planet’s Best in Asia Pacific 2019 ! How awesome is that?! Of course, I’ve always known that. It’s why I live in Dunsborough. If you haven’t visited yet, then you definitely should. Maybe wait until summer though. It’s a bit wet and cold at the moment.
This is what Lonely Planets had to say – “Take one look at Meelup Beach and you’ll wonder where it’s been all your life: the West Australian bush parts to reveal ocean the hue of a Bombay Sapphire bottle, which is typical of the coastline stretching from Margaret River to the state’s south. Beyond the sand, some of the country’s slickest wineries, breweries and restaurants lie between tracts of tall-tree forest and kangaroo-dotted farmland.”

OK back to reality. Both images shot a week apart. Spring is here but is it really??? Shot on my trusty Huawei P20 Pro. 40mp RAW .dng files. Not bad for a phone that actually is a better phone than my old iphone. Ok Apple fanboys and fangirls, come and get me!!!

Apple and I have been exploring our block. We have had four major trees come down this winter. I can’t remember having so many back to back storms. In the previous 6 years we had not had any trees come down. The most recent one was during last weekends storm. A big Marri tree has fallen onto our rainwater tank. Crazy weather!

The clouds are making way for some sunshine. Felt inspired to get out with the camera and enjoy. The bay is looking great for the boat lovers and if you look closely you can see a small wave at the Super-bank. Hope you get a chance to relax today too. Life’s for living right?

Getting into a bit of storm chasing. Dinner was cooked, kids were happy. The clouds were building so I had no excuses. Headed out to Nannup last night to try my luck. Got a couple. Nothing epic but I had a ball. Some lightning but not close enough to get the hair standing on end! Home by 9:30pm, pretty civilised actually.

My daughter and I were feeling inspired on the weekend. We have revegetated the front of our block which had been cleared for what ever reason by the previous inhabitants. Native plants are so beautiful in their own way. So we collected lots of different types and set out photographing them. My daughter took all the photos, I even made her focus stack them, poor kid! Then we had a play in photoshop and made a couple of prints. What a cool thing to do with your kids. She is going to be a great photographer and a great environmentalist. Thats my girl!

Having some fun with the Sigma DP2 the other day. Revisited some old locations around Bridgetown. I was off storm chasing, well read that, trying to stay in front of the rain. Ended up in Boyup Brook before it shut me down and I went home. Fun day though.
