Hi all there are only 23 spots left now for the True North Workshop, might be an idea to book today!!
Paul from Fitzgerald Photo Labs has just upped his prize to a 14×50” Acrylic mounted print – valued a bit over $400.00
Now that would be worth winning. You have to be on the boat though to be eligible to enter.
See you on Wednesday.

Thats right. We have someone drop out for this exciting workshop on the Apple Isle. It is going to fill pretty quickly so if you can make it let Nick know now. Nick Rains Photography
The Bunker Bay workshop we held in January was very well received and we got a lot of excellent feedback. Nick and I thought long and hard about where to hold a follow-up event and I knew that Freycinet Lodge in Tasmania would be perfect. It’s a terrific hotel, it’s on the coast and the wonderful Freycinet Peninsula is right on its doorstep. What’s not to like about that!
A full itinerary can be seen here
Cost is $995 per person and includes Morning and afternoon tea as well as lunch on both days.
Dates: December 4 & 5 2010
What an amazing 2 days. You and Christian work so well together. It was great watching you bounce ideas of each other. It was fantastic that two such amazingly talented photographers are willing to share so much. I was expecting a lot of shooting ideas and help and I certainly got that. But what I gained from the talks on Lightroom and Photoshop just blew me away. You both have so much enthusiasm and are able to pass on so much knowledge in a fun and very easy to listen to style. I was never overwhelmed by the immense amount of information you both gave. My brain is in a spin and I can’t wait to put it all into practice. The only complaint (a good one) is the shopping list has reach $1000 and is climbing. I can’t wait for all my goodies to arrive.
Please let me know if you and Christian are joining forces again. I bow to the masters and thank you so much.

Have you ever wondered how photographers get that cartoon look in some of their portraits. That gritty dirty contrasty look. I have been trying to work it out for ages. I think I am almost there. Am I going to divulge the secret?? Hmm, you might have to get on my next workshop! Well thats if you like this look. If you don’t, and I suspect you won’t Hazel, then you won’t care a bit!!
I like it, it is fun to do and creative.

Nick Rains and I are running another of our two day photographic workshops this time just south of Noosa on the Sunshine Coast. See the flyer below and if your keen to learn how to get professional results and be inspired to take your photography to a higher level, let Nick know as soon as possible. Our Tasmania workshop filled in a couple of weeks so this one will be even more popular. There are some beautiful places to photograph on the Sunshine coast and we will be doing some shooting to get photos we can work on during the day classes. The location for the workshop is unbelievable and will be a perfect place to relax and learn. Nick and I both will be staying at the Eumarella Shores Resort so it would be the perfect place to be for the workshop and for the social times after the busy day of shooting and post production. We will have a printer with us and will be teaching you everything you need to know about colour management and fine printing. It will be one not to miss. See you there.

I have been bitten by the HDR bug, I mean everything can’t be Australian Landscapes, there has to be some people in there too. This is an image tone mapped in Photoshop thanks to the Photomatix plugin that comes with photomatix. This was a single image and it sort of came out how I wanted, that gritty illustrated look. I obviously have done some work in photoshop to further stylize the image. I plan on learning everything there is to know about Photomatix and will be making that my subject for the workshop on True North.
On that subject I hope you have booked. The last I heard there was only 30 spots left.
