Had some great cloud around last week. Mark Stothard and I were shooting Castle Rock when this cloud appeared. Weird one, anyone know the name of this sort of cloud?

The brand New TNFP shirts are GO!!

29 Apr 2009 at 6:11am

Hi guys the TNFP shirts are printed and will be shipped as soon as I get some addresses. On the list we have Matt Inman x 2, (have your address Matt), Tom Parkes x 1, Adrian Wayte x 2, Steve Gordon x 1, Rod Thomas x 1, Phil Maguire x 1, Craig Chiswell x 1. These are $35 each plus $7.50 postage and handling. So can you guys send me an email to confirm the details and let me know where to send the shirts to.

Also I have a range of TNFP shirts going out at cost because the printer reversed the text, the TNFP is in orange on the black shirt without the box around it, not as spunky as the original. Let me know if you want one, price is $25 buckaroonies, what an absolute bargain!!

One lens sold one to go!

15 Apr 2009 at 1:20am

spools24-701 Here is Neals lens he won’t be needing now he has a 50mm f/1.2. This is still a very good lens as you can see by Neals images.

Wanted One Good Nurturing Home

Canon Lens needs good home, somewhere it will be fed only the best light, taken to the best locations and treated with kid gloves everywhere it goes. This lens has been spoilt rotten over the past 12 months and now knows no other way of being treated. So if you can you can treat this lens well it will treat you well in return.
Complete with lens cap and lens hood, no original box sorry.

Lens Type : Canon 24-70 L f/2.8 lens

I am asking $1100.00. Will including shipping anywhere within Australia.

Pretty much all my images on spoolphotography.com have been taken with this lens.

Interested parties can either call me on 0406 408 317 or email me at info (@) spoolphotography dot com

Cheers

Neal

Boneyards

12 Apr 2009 at 12:49am

by230d Haven’t posted for a while, haven’t been taking many photos. Earlier this week Mark Stothard and I went for a shoot around the back of Rocky Point. This little bay is such a nice spot for a swim. On the other side we saw a seal having a feed. I’m sure there was a Great White circling near by!!!
This was a blended image, not HDR.

East Coast Workshops

30 Mar 2009 at 7:12am

cn793d I will be on the East Coast for 3 months shooting for my new book on Australia. I am thinking about running my night course over there if I can get enough interest. I will be in all states and the NT hopefully so if you could let me know if you would come that would help my decision to do them. It will be the same as what I hold in WA, i.e. cost $250 and includes free wine, Desert and a workbook. Not to mention lots of fun and learning.

This image was from a shoot I had last week with Mark. I worked this image for 1.5 hours then resized it for the web. Then I went and saved it that size and closed it down realizing I didn’t do a SAVE AS. Fudge’n Hell. Always hit save as, always hit save as, always hit save as………….

Also just clicked over 150,000 hits in 15 months. Man have I typed my little hands off!!!

To answer a few questions

3 Mar 2009 at 10:49am

Hi all, sorry if I haven’t been getting back to people regarding their questions. I thought I send in one post that will help solve all the riddles of the universe and beyond! OK lets go:-

I no longer use a pano head. The old 360 precision has been sold to a mate who runs a 1Ds Mark III. It didn’t fit the new 5D anyway so I thought I had better just make do with what I had. What I have found is I don’t need the pano head but what I do have kind of works the same. PT GUI is so good anyway it fixes plenty of stitching stuff ups. So I have one of these http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/controller/home?O=cart_accessories&A=details&Q=&sku=113383&is=REG and one of these http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/controller/home?O=cart_accessories&A=details&Q=&sku=554092&is=REG
I put it all together on my old shitty Manfrotto tripod with a three way head, you know the old style ones before all the fancy pistol grip crap came out. And guess what???? it works a treat. So there you are save your money and buy this gear. Speak to Brendan at PRA Imaging in Perth. Tell him I sent ya so he will feel like he owes me!!! hehe

The exhibition ends this weekend and I am having a talk on the images, how I took them etc and a general run down on each one. Everyone is welcome but it is not a workshop hence the cost “zero, zilch, nada, nothing” It is just a get together so I can share my experiences with who ever is interested. Hope to see you guys there. There will obviously be some insight as to how I achieved the pics so it will still be informative. It kicks off at 1pm this Sunday the 8th of March at the Mandurah Performing Arts Centre. If you haven’t seen the exhibition yet Sunday will be your last chance.

Thanks for all the comments on the book, I have gone off all the covers now, I’m sick of them already. Will keep developing new ideas for comment.

The TNFP shirt was officially launched last week at the exhibition. I have orders for 6 so far but expect this number to increase dramatically after this post “hint, hint” I am still averaging about 6 google searches a day for people wanting to find out about the TNFP filter. Don’t get on the bandwagon too late when it is no longer cool to have a TNFP shirt. I have mine on today and feel pretty good when people ask me what it means, except of course when it is a nice little old lady. I will be wearing it to PMA this year and will be on the lookout for others that might turn up in the crowd. $35 is so cheap for a custom Limited Edition shirt anyway.

More from Wyadup Rocks

23 Feb 2009 at 4:29am

wyadup-rocks-3 Another from that spectacular sunset the other weekend. It’s all about the light, don’t bother trying to make it up in photoshop, light like this is pretty hard to replicate. Taken with the 5D 2 as per usual. I don’t use my pano head anymore, in fact I have sold it. Wish I had saved myself the money. I didn’t know that I could get away with stitching without one though. Hope you like!
