Help needed for one of our own

16 Nov 2010 at 2:27pm

Just found out from Markie Stothard that Tony Middleton has had all his gear stolen. Read Marks post below

I am sure that the name Tony Middelton (Tone) is very familiar to you all and I have learned today via Andrew Brown’s blog that Tony had all of his gear stolen yesterday along with all of his back up drives and 10 years worth of images!

To say that he is gutted is an understatement!

I would like to do something to assist Tony to get back out there doing what he does best and Ben from Team Digital has agreed to offer a good price on the gear he has lost.

So I am asking everyone out there in blog land to put a donation to this account which I have set up purely for this appeal. Any and every donation will be much appreciated by Tony and I hope we can go someway towards replacing his kit.

Of course we can never replace the 10 years worth of kick butt images, but at least we might be able to get him up and running again and ease the pain a bit!

I’m on fire, I might have even posted more than Markie in the past two days. Now your asking why is it so? I’ll tell ya!

24 reasons actually, 24 lovely GB of RAM. I got the 8 core back from Team Digital on Monday and now this thing screams. I feel like I’m back processing 5D files again it is that quick. The best money I ever spent. Now I have a usable machine to push pixels around. And do you know what? Content Aware fill actually works now!!

Now to the image. Shot on a mine site in the Pilbara and stylised for the hell of it. Having fun is what it is all about, I guess I should go and do some work that might actually make me some money. This image was inspired by my mate and Grand Master photographer Tony Hewitt.

What’s wrong with this picture??

14 Jul 2010 at 9:08am

Now at first glance you see a couple of fellas taking a nice photo up at Mount Buffalo. Now look closer, no not at my grey hair, who the hell is on the wrong side of the safety fence??? None other than resident adventure man Markie Mark Stothard. Now as a veteran of over 3000 parachute jumps this was no big deal………… to him. I had gravy stains in my jocks and after several attempts to encourage him back off the edge of the slippery rocks I relented. Then my competitive streak kicked in, maybe he will drop his camera off the side and then I had a better chance of winning the Alpine Challenge. Unfortunately he didn’t and now the bastard has been voted with the top photo from the trip of the autumn tree in Mount Beauty.

Goes to show with a DSLR and balls of steel anything is possible. I was happy with my safe spot, ok I didn’t win any challenges but I still have the camera everyone wants. With a phase and marshmallow balls you can still achieve greatness.

On ya Markie youdahellman!!

Oh I must thank Tom Tommy Putt for the photo, he was kind enough to shoot a few pics of us for our adoring fans! And secretly for himself. yikes, don’t even want to go there!! Love ya Tommy!

Mount Hotham

You may have seen a few of this scene in the last month, this is my take on it. Tom, Markie and Tony all got different results. Isn’t photography great like that. I love seeing everyones different interpretation.

Mark Stothard & Les Walkling

Well Tony you asked for it so here is a great example of a untouched image from the Phase One. What better way to show the ability of this camera than with my two mentors. Mark for his go for it motivation skills and Les for being the smartest photographer I have ever met. These two guys have changed my life and are good mates. Thanks fellas.

Now, so what you say, a couple of guys standing in the middle of the road. Did I mention it was raining. Have a look at the 100% crop. That says it all. And when I say it was raining it wasn’t even heavy enough to get you wet. Those drops were miniscule.

True North Mark in action

24 Aug 2009 at 8:28am

Here is a couple of pics of Markie Mark, getting wet all in the name of photography. He managed to get soaked by a wave standing on the top of this cliff face, just a big further back and then got the bottom half wet on the beach. Later that day he walked 12kms in bare feet at Lamington National Park and then topped it off with a shower under a raging waterfall in Springbrook NP. The guy is a water rat!! I didn’t get a drop on me!!! Land lover!!!

Fingal Head 2

18 Jun 2009 at 12:44am

fingal beach This is the beach just south of Fingal Head. I saw Mark Stothard checking out this scene and thought I’d better have a look myself. That is the good thing about shooting with someone else. See what their looking at and if it is better than what you have been doing steal it and claim it for yourself!! Ha, Mark was getting the good angles and I’ll get the glory, thanks mate!! hehe.
